Aires
(March
20 - April 18) Fire. Ruling planet Mars. Top
You
are experiencing a new form of travel madness this month, Aries, one that
involves interior as well as outer world explorations. This inner journey
makes for profound perspective shifts and new-found dedication to your life
direction. It is only the path with heart that appeals to you right now,
that draws upon your fullest intention for yourself moving forward, and that
creates an opening for you in a way that is consistent through and through.
The vision that calls you reveals itself with no physical eyes to see it,
and creates a doorway for you where there was none before.
As the month begins, your ruler Mars has just entered the sign of Cancer and
your sector of home and family and the roots of your being, where he will remain
for several months, an unusually long time for the Red Planet to remain in
any sign. This is due to his retrograde in mid-November, and it means that
you will be staying close to home, at least in a psychological sense, for some
time to come, including the Winter Solstice and holiday season, which is bound
to be a more introspective one for you this year. Mars does not change back
to direct motion until the end of January, and will not move on in your solar
houses until May. All during this time you are feeling more internal, and perhaps
more vulnerable as well, than your normally out-going nature ever allows for.
You might be experiencing the first taste of this upcoming inner focus in this
early October timeframe, especially on the 3rd, when the Quarter Moon accentuates
these feeling of delving down into your inner depths, perhaps at the expense
of spending as much time with others as you would like to. At this time too,
however, there is a definite focus on partnership rather than on going it alone.
The Libra New Moon that comes along a week later, on Wednesday, October 10th,
brings you more fully into alignment with the sharing mode that comes regularly
to you at this time of the year. This time there is an exciting pull of otherworldly
energy that accompanies all your feelings of relating, so that partnership
with the surrounding cosmos might be one way of describing your true goals
at this time, which can be antithetical to the mundane life of the here and
now. Relationship with others takes on a subtle tinge of unreality for this
entire cycle, the more so since Mercury, retrograde from the time of the New
Moon onwards, allows for rethinking of all your partnership connections.
The Full Moon of Thursday, October 25th might prove to be a time for taking
stock, and for feeling out the potential changes in your relationship energy,
be they temporary or otherwise.
The Mercury retrograde period is famous for misdirection, so it is best not
to take any definitive unplanned actions until mid-November, although you may
be tempted. These nebulous attitudes and idealizations can of course be quite
confusing, but ultimately represent an expansion of your viewpoint to include
a multi-dimensional approach, although you have to live in the so-called real
world at the same time, of course. If it just seems a little bit less substantial
than you might ordinarily expect, well that's perhaps just because it is.
Taurus
(April
19 - May 19) Earth. Ruling planet Venus. Top
You may be introspective and a little shut down for
a while, Taurus, probably at least until November, but silence has
its uses. You are looking more closely into how you reach out to others
when you do, reflecting on both your self-expression and also your
partnership interaction. You do well to spend this quiet time productively
by re-thinking how and why you do relationship with significant partners
in a particular way. You are stretching, seeking your path forward,
looking for a future that you can really live with. To paraphrase Shakespeare,
the quality of your dreams over this period of time can allow you to
be bounded in a nutshell and yet count yourself king of infinite space.
As the month begins, you may well be feeling torn between your need
to reach out to others in a nurturing way and your desire to stay at
home and please only yourself. You need time alone in order to be able
to explore necessary changes in your life that you feel compelled to
investigate at this time. This monthly cycle is all about finding your
way through to a new vision for yourself and your service to humanity
at large, in the form of the unique contribution that you and only
you can make. You are redefining yourself, and your relationship to
others in your life also, over the course of this monthly cycle.
The New Moon of Wednesday, October 10th, is particularly telling in
this regard. Then you may find yourself seriously contemplating changes
in life direction that have been waiting in the wings for some time
now for you to recognize them. You are getting flashes of inspiration
regarding the unique contribution that you may be able to make in this
lifetime, and that benefit social goals as well as personal ones. This
is a powerful time for you, when you may well feel that your calling
comes to you almost unexpectedly, although when you think about the
buildup over the years, the conclusions that you are coming to right
now may seem logical and inescapable.
The Mercury retrograde period of time that begins on the very next
day may unsettle you somewhat, as it signals a time for reflection
rather than for action just when you may feel more like taking your
new concept to the streets. Questions could arise at this time also
of what part there might be for relationships with significant partners
in your life, but you do well to simply watch and wait. Perhaps difficulties
will resolve and your ideas solidify still further as you meditate
on your changes over the coming weeks.
Mercury stays retrograde until November 1st, and then remains in its
retrograde shadow for another couple of weeks, and during this time
it makes no sense to push the river. There will be a right time for
action later on, especially if you can allow your prospects to unfold
in a natural partnership with the cosmic forces that are coming to
your aid right now.
The First Quarter Moon of October 19th may bring some bumpiness with
how you visualize your potential progress, and may bring relationship
concerns more directly into the picture for working through them.
The Full Moon of the following week, taking place on Thursday, October
25th, represents a fruition of these issues, and an opportunity to
embrace positive change. The more that you can let go of prior concepts
at this time, the happier you will ultimately find yourself.
Gemini
(May
20 - June 20) Air. Ruling planet Mercury. Top
It's been a roller coaster of an early fall, Gemini, with surprises
in your career and with rebuilding bridges in your private life. This month,
renewed emotional investment on the home front has got you thinking about your
true path. Plus your ruler Mercury is running backwards after the 11th, and
through the end of the month, in your sector of your highest intention for
yourself. Help may come from unexpected sources; the universe is on your side.
Even though you are more introspective over the last half of the month, your
self-expression is actually blossoming in a new way. You are more serious,
and quieter, but when you do speak others will listen.
As the month begins, you are entering a time of reconsideration of many areas
in your life, including your vision of your life path and your career goals
going forward. These might be changing rapidly right now, or circumstances
in the arena of your public existence might be different and surprising, as
Uranus, stimulated by Jupiter, is acting out in your sector of career and professional
life.
The New Moon of Wednesday, October 10th, could brings these issues out even
more strongly, and give you new impulse for manifesting creativity of all kinds.
There are issues of how you consider your world and your world-view that may
be coming up for you at this time as well, since your ruler Mercury is about
to retrograde in your sector of your higher purpose.
There could be patterns of inherited belief that may reverse themselves at
this time, and there may be some part of the past that must be left behind.
Mercury will not change to direct motion until November 1st, and then may take
another couple of weeks to recover from its retrograde shadow.
A further crux of change during the latter part of the current month will come
with the First Quarter Moon of Friday, October 21st. You are challenged at
this time in your attempts to break through to a new understanding of your
situation both in private rumination and in terms of outer world activity.
Since you are also in the midst of Mercury retrograde, the recommendation is
to resist the impulse to forge ahead and instead to keep a watchful eye on
everything that transpires and to try to discern the deeper meaning.
The Full Moon of the following week represents a flowing of the impulse for
change that is operating within you right now. You are uniquely called to new
adventures in outer world presentation and in partnership with others at this
time. Although again you may spend more time mulling over your focus on change
than actually committing to it over this last half of October period, the opportunity
is there to take your dedication to spiritual congruence in your life to the
next level.
Cancer
(June
21 - July 21) Water. Ruling planet is the Moon. Top
You have your feet on the ground but your head way out
there in the clouds this month, Cancer. There may also be a flood of physical
energy as Mars surges into your sign. You are engaged at this time in getting
clear on where exactly you are heading, a very positive message. Home and
family are your strong suits and this area of life predominates for you
right now through your various epiphanies. In any case you are signed up
to figure all of it out somehow, to come to the full-on realization that
this is what there is and that you are playing it for keeps, as your communication
and your outreach reflect the solidity of this notion.
As the month begins, you may encounter a form of tension regarding your
outer presentation versus your private world presence. You are relatively
out there in the world of action and events these days, although still
perhaps a part of you feels the pull to be entirely centered within yourself.
You benefit when you stay true to the intuition that tells you to remain
in touch with the inner dimension of your experience. You are also called
at this time in an almost magical way to new ideas regarding your future
path, the unique contribution you might make in this lifetime. There is
a way that you must paradoxically attend to all these different parts of
your process, although it may not prove to be so easy.
Things become clearer by the middle of the following week with the Libra
New Moon of October 10th. Then, home and family is emphasized. You are
seeking your center right now. As much as the delicious instability of
your calling excites you at this time, and opens up new doorways in your
mind, your fundamental impulse is to pay close attention to your root psychological
process, and to hibernate in your new-found awareness until you are fully
ready to emerge.
This inward tendency is aided and abetted by the Mercury retrograde period
that begins the next day, on the 11th. This period of time, while not a
good period for making new connections and forging ahead, is in fact terrific
for reflection and self-renewal, and especially good for journaling. The
retrograde influence lasts at least until November, longer when you take
the retrograde shadow into account. Over this entire period you will remain
in close contact with your innermost soul and it brings you rich rewards.
The First Quarter Moon Friday, the 19th, is traditionally a time for seeing
how far the impulse of the preceding New Moon has taken you, and in this
interesting cycle may bring up issues for you. You may be wondering where
you are heading in your life path or how to build bridges with potential
partners who can help you to get there. You are evolving in your understanding
of where you are going right now, and your concept will become more focused
by the end of the year.
The Taurus – Scorpio Full Moon of the last full week of the month,
taking place on Thursday the 25th, is another time of potential renewal
that might serve to remind you of the mystical basis underlying all your
concepts and meditations right now.
Leo
(July
22 - August 21) Fire. Ruling planet
is the Sun. Top
You are moving through some big issues involving intimacy
and relationship with others right now, Leo, and with startling speed
at times. You have just gotten over the hump of the waterslide and are
whizzing toward some kind of emotional epiphany. With the New Moon in
your communications sector this month, you are also likely to be consulting
your circle of friends over how you do these transformations of old energy
and patterns into new ones, your own personal alchemy. It's all good.
When you get to the bottom you go back to the top, wiser and more joyful,
and with any luck, brimming over with self-acceptance.
As the month begins, communication outreach to others around you is the
name of your game. You may be feeling some tension in your process between
living in the everyday here and now as you connect with your peers, and
intimations of other worlds and more profound collective connection that
lead you into hidden places within.
The New Moon in the middle of the following week, taking place on Wednesday,
October 10th, both brings you more firmly into present tenses and ordinary
or perhaps even chatty attitudes, and also takes you further down into
the deep recesses of your soul-level understanding. You have been expanding
in your notion lately of who you really are, exactly, and achieving emotional
epiphanies that have as their ultimate purpose your thorough-going transformation
from the inside out.
This fresh energy for connection with others also takes you further along
in regards to your own higher purpose, as though in some ways you are
relating directly to Spirit. Once you recognize this simple yet important
fact, then you are free to embrace the paradox of surface-layer connection
with others as though absolutely nothing has changed.
Mercury retrogrades the very next day, on the 11th, in your sector of
home and family, piling itself up on the introspective side of your equation.
You are inclined to look more closely at all your family and tribal associations
during this period, and to look to your inner compass rather than outside
of yourself for the answers. Although Mercury stations direct on November
1st, the retrograde influence lasts until mid-November.
In the last half of the month, the First Quarter Moon of the 19th and
the Taurus – Scorpio Full Moon of the 25th are signposts of greater
delving down, times when your process will particularly present itself
to your mind, in order to enable you to make necessary course adjustments.
You may be only dimly aware of your greater process of understanding
and transformation, although in some sense you are cooking up your future
below the level of your consciousness the whole time.
Virgo
(August
22 - September 21) Earth. Ruling planet
Mercury. Top
This month is both an expansive and a contractive one
for you, Virgo. You are opening to a further level of self-awareness
and simultaneously pulling back from extending yourself to others around
you. You are very invested this month in your values, and in redefining
yourself with respect to these values. Home and family concerns are especially
important in this regard, as is the notion of how you define personal
security. Fluctuations with significant partners in your life provide,
when you look at them right, a rich source of information for your process.
This all has the ultimately beneficial effect of throwing you back on
yourself to provide the answers that you seek.
As the month begins, you are emerging from of a period of intense soul
searching and self-redefinition. Although certainly not out of the woods
in this current monthly cycle, you are at any rate further along with
your changes. Exciting new considerations from partnership sources may
play an important part, both for the previous month and for this one.
The New Moon of the middle of the second week, taking place on Wednesday,
October 10th, is especially telling in this regard. You are tuning in
somehow to vast and extensive inner realms of knowingness that go beyond
anything that comes to you from the outside world of mere physicality,
and making some far-reaching changes in the way you see things and what
you value. These messages may come through important partners in your
life, but they resonate also with the inner chime that you make constantly
with the infinite, and you have only to close your eyes to see it.
The First Quarter Moon at the end of the following week, taking place
on Friday, October 19th, could bring up issues with respect to the small
developing shoot of your understanding as it makes its way into the larger
world.
This is a time of testing, and of trial, perhaps even more so with your
ruler Mercury now retrograde in your communications sector. The retrograde
period lasts at least until November, with Mercury changing to direct
motion on the 1st, and perhaps as long as mid-November, just in time
for the Mars retrograde in your sector of societal connection. All in
all, this end of year period is quite an internal one for you, starting
with the second half of this month, and therefore gives you the opportunity
for reflection, and for being very sure of your words before you utter
them, something that you are normally pretty good at anyway.
The Full Moon of the final full week, on Thursday, October 25th, again
brings issues of self and other to the forefront. There is a way that
partnership with others is quite mystical for you at this time and in
some ways entirely unexpected. The grace that the cosmos bestows upon
you during this cycle is nothing to hang onto, but only to be enjoyed,
as the bellows of the universe breathes you in and out, always emptying,
always inexhaustible.
Libra
(September
22 - October 22) Air. Ruling planet Venus. Top
You are having a minimalist coming-out party this month,
Libra. Following recent advances on interior fronts, you are once more
ready to face the world, but still however feeling the subtle messages
of dream worlds within you whispering in your ear. There is a solid
foundation there inside your mind, a place to stand amidst the noise
and the chaos of the outer world that swirls around you like another
Katrina, distracting you with its goodies. The quiet voice inside your
imagination and beyond your conscious mind is still there, urging you
to go deeper yet.
As the month begins you are no doubt feeling the energy of the Sun
in your sign. Ever since the Fall Equinox there has been a warm impulse
to solar light and power and for turning up in a positive way for others
around you. There will no doubt be some tension in your process during
this first week of October centering on the mid-week Last Quarter Moon,
when you will be attempting to find just what part of everything you
have been feeling and thinking over the last few weeks of September
has ultimate validity for you, and when tension may arise between your
work in the world and your concrete presence when you show up as only
yourself.
The feeling of well-being that is basic to your very nature during
this birthday time of the year becomes even stronger by the middle
of the second week of the month with the Libra New Moon. This and the
days following represent a powerful time for you, when great ideas
come and when you will feel an optimistic attitude toward where you
might be eventually heading that bubbles over into words on the page
and ebullient conversation.
Your finances may begin to run backwards during this timeframe as well,
or you might reconsider ways and means, with Mercury retrograde in
your resources sector until at least the end of the month. At this
time also you are summing up the past years of your experience, seeking
to sort out the best of what you have accomplished to preserve into
the next thirty years of your life, a process that is tied to Saturn
and that will not fully complete until its final entrance into your
sign in 2010.
The October 10th to 19th period of this current month, leading up to
the First Quarter Moon, is quite powerful for you as well, as you explore
these issues and feel answers coming to you from a place that is beyond
your conscious mind. You are exploring your best pathway forward right
now, consistent with your highest purpose for yourself, and the impact
that your ideas might have on others around you.
The following week, with the Full Moon of Thursday, the 25th, you are
likely to become very excited by your possibilities. The experiences
that you are having through this monthly cycle may be written down
in words, but words are in the end wholly inadequate to describe them.
Scorpio
(October
23 - Nov 21) Water. Ruling planets Mars,
Pluto. Top
Welcome once again to the transformational stew, Scorpio.
What you are cooking up on this occasion only time will tell. You are
visible to others around you in only a limited way right now, spending
a huge proportion of your energy on the inner workings of your mind and
within the confines of your heart. This is a vital time for you, and
an energetic one as well, good for moving through issues of self-acceptance
and security consciousness that have perhaps been holding you back from
being all that you can be, or from fully participating in relationship.
You will undoubtedly come to a better balance between self and other
as this monthly cycle unfolds.
As the month begins, you are feeling an increasing awareness brought
about by the tension between doing and simply being. This is what the
mid-week Last Quarter Moon suggests regarding your situation. You have
been taking an increasingly serious look at your goals and future plans
over the last few weeks, and now is the time when you have to actually
see them through or else re-think them in some way, as you take a more
internal stance and reflective look at where your life is heading and
what may be concretely accomplished. Your interaction with the world
involves your mental apparatus more strongly than ever now, and your
struggle to affirm your changing sense of ways and means brings your
worldview into question or at least provides fresh cause for introspective
consideration there.
You are beginning a six-month long process of redefining yourself in
this area. This end of the year period of time and on into January and
February will involve a higher mind approach to your life in general.
It is possible that travel or educational initiatives or other forms
of perspective shift will come to dominate your thought-process during
this extended period of time.
This month, fuel is added to this particular fire by the retrograde of
Mercury in your sign, on the day after the Libra New Moon that itself
takes place on October 10th. This New Moon highlights perspective changes
for you in the direction of spiritual connection working itself out in
your life that is not seen so much as felt, or available to your waking
world so much as to your dream reality. This is a powerful time when
you may feel as if reborn.
The Mercury retrograde the next day adds to the strangeness of your vision
at this time, as though looking at the world through a thin sheet of
ice you have drawn up from the pool of memory. Mercury will not really
straighten out until mid-November, just when your ruler Mars retrogrades
in your higher mind sector, so that the entire period described above
is likely to be very internal in some ways. There is a time, as Bible
says, for every purpose under heaven, and this end of year period takes
its introspective turn.
The days leading up to the First Quarter Moon of the 19th and then the
Full Moon in your opposite sign on Thursday, the 25th, are likely to
be especially powerful in the realm of magical thinking into which you
have descended, and to raise concerns of self and other. Most importantly,
these days will bring up issues that you are nurturing right now of the
important connections made with respect to your own internal process.
Sagittarius
(Nov
22 - Dec 20) Fire. Ruling planet Jupiter. Top
You are poised for success Sagittarius, and at many levels
of your being. With Uranus squaring your ruler Jupiter in your identity sector,
the excitement is palpable. You have been on a roll for weeks now and this
month begins to cap it all off. From October 10th onwards, your vision is
synching into place for a new designer future that you can not only live
with but for. The ground beneath your feet is still shaky these days, and
security is not really in sight with so much movement happening. It is only
necessary that you abandon all your preconceptions, as far as is humanly
possible, and then the sky is truly the only limit for you right now.
As the month begins, you are feeling the impetus of new ways of seeing that
come to you directly from your inner world. This is a very powerful time,
when the knowledge of your deep inner process is becoming manifest and you
are beginning to really get the idea of different facets to the things in
your life that you have always taken more or less for granted. This is perhaps
a destabilizing influence and continues over the entire month, but in the
end proves beneficial as you finally begin to integrate this new information.
With the New Moon of the second week of the month, taking place on Wednesday,
October 10th, you are entering into a visionary time when you may be able
to visualize your future in more concrete detail. This New Moon takes place
in your sector of wishes and hopes and societal connection, and makes an
aspect to visionary Uranus, as your ruler Jupiter also squares it at the
same time, making for an extremely powerful configuration. New ideas are
bound to come through fast and furious.
The paradox is that you may not be able to fully act on them for another
month or so, since Mercury retrogrades the very next day. You would be well
advised not to take any radical departure or unplanned action during this
time, but to watch and wait, and try to see how everything in your life fits
together. The actions that you have already put into process could be completed
more slowly than you might otherwise be tempted to proceed, and re-evaluated
in the light of new-found realizations that come to you as you go through
the remainder of the month.
The First Quarter Moon of Friday, October 19th, is traditionally a time of
assessment of progress, and potentially also of bumps in the road, and may
come with increased urgency to bow to the evolutionary pressure that has
been building up over the past few years for making your breakthrough. Ideally
this follows as a logical consequence of everything that has gone before.
Since Mercury is retrograde and also the ruler of your partnership sector,
there could also be an adjustment required regarding some aspect of your
energy for relationship.
The flowering of this latter concept could come in more directly with the
Full Moon of the following week. This Full Moon, taking place on Thursday,
October 25th, ushers in a time of solitary contemplation that lasts well
into November, when you may be able to think constructively about necessary
changes that will culminate by year's end. What is yet to come toward the
end of the year is an exciting time for you, involving powerful changes that
you have been ready for some time now to make in your life.
Capricorn
(Dec
21 - Jan 19) Earth. Ruling planet Saturn. Top
This is an excellent month for breakthrough and for new ideas
to come into your life, Capricorn. You are feeling your way into a new alignment,
one not based on your needs but on your own most profound desires for progress.
These are soul yearnings, bracing in their purity. You are seeking your past
in order to transcend it, seeing all sides of the issue for once, merging
your bravest intention for the world of commerce and achievement with deep
connection to the surrounding cosmos. You are looking for a change in the
weather brought about not so much by an external shift as by the evolution
of your own reaction to it.
As the month begins, you might be experiencing a moment of tension between
the requirements of significant partners in your life and the demands of
your own process. You are in the midst of a cycle of increasing awareness
of the philosophical underpinnings of what you do in the world, and when
you are taking quite seriously your responsibilities to this outer persona,
and how you plug into society at large. There may also be a revision of your
point of view regarding these conundrums during the latter half of the month.
The New Moon that comes along late on Wednesday, October 10th, signals a
fresh look at career and professional life and a time of decision. With Mercury
about to go retrograde in your sector of goals and plans for the future,
there are likely to be changes coming down the pike in the way that you think
about these things. You have been hatching some remarkable conclusions lately
and your communication right now reveals this wilder side of you that reflects
these new ideas and also a deep connection to inner knowing. You may find
yourself speaking surprising truth that you have no concept of that you knew
or how it was ever arrived at.
Mercury is retrograde until the middle of November when you take the shadow
period into account, and it may be at least until then before you get a solid
sense of your direction and the greater stability of your inner world as
you adjust to changing perspectives.
Another potential cross-roads that you will encounter along the way is represented
by the First Quarter Moon of the 19th, when the career concept that you have
undertaken over the previous week may shift in some unexpected fashion. Others
are active in your life right now, and you may be pressured by outside circumstances
as well as by your own inner turning.
The Full Moon a week later, taking place on Thursday, October 25th, speaks
of balancing alternatives, coming to an acceptance of your situation, and
simply relaxing into your own skin. It's amazing how much of what is potentially
troubling can vanish in an instant of perspective shift.
Aquarius
(Jan
20 - Feb 18) Air. Ruling planets Uranus,
Saturn. Top
This is a time of adventure, Aquarius. Your characteristic
future orientation gets a big boost this month from Jupiterian expansionism,
especially at the time of the October 10th New Moon. You may well indulge
in travel, perhaps imaginative, or educational initiatives also may be
in the offing. While placing your bets on the future of your choice, you
are slowing down in the intimacy department, impacting your philosophical
understanding of your life in general. Taking a more thoughtful look at
where you are headed in relationship can only be a Good Thing for you,
long-term.
As the month begins you are service-oriented, feeling the obligations and
also the benefits of others in your life. You are completing a movement
over the last few weeks toward partnership that includes your own process
of growth first and foremost, but not to the exclusion of other viewpoints.
Right now these have a powerful capacity to enable your own to expand.
With the New Moon of the following mid-week, you come to a better sense
of appreciation of them and a good place to stand for further development.
You are likely to find cause for optimism in this current cycle, based
on solid and centered self-reliance. All your future plans seem to be unfolding
right now just as they are supposed to.
In this delightful state, even temporary setbacks brought about in correlation
with the Mercury retrograde period that begins the next day in your sector
of outer world accomplishment will not faze you. This retrograde period
is likely to be powerful, and you may notice the usual missed communication
and mechanical breakdown, but it also has its uses in terms of contemplation
and necessary introspection.
This is especially true if you are willing to suspend action at this time,
and move from your intuitive understanding that the river does not always
flow swiftly, that there are periods of pause and reflection that are as
natural as the night that follows the day or the clouds the Sunshine. All
of these varying chapters in God's screenplay have their purpose and their
intention that truly chimes with your own when you look at it right.
The last half of the month has it's turning points in the First Quarter
Moon of the 19th, when you must reevaluate somewhat in the light of further
information that comes to you, perhaps in the form of a still small voice
of inner knowing, and in the Full Moon of Thursday, October 25th, near
month's end. This is a time when miraculous reality will again speak clearly
to you if you make the effort to bend your ear to listen. Underneath the
seemingly superficial surface it is still a magical world.
Pisces
(Feb
19 - March 19) Water. Ruling planets Neptune, Jupiter. Top
This is an entirely cosmic month for you, Pisces. You are
entering a brave new world of your own making. The energy of the times fits
perfectly with your vision and your intention to grow and to explore your
unique path in a manner that furthers your worldly ambitions without sacrificing
yourself to them. You will be excited by your progress, although this is
not necessarily an easy walk as far as partnership with others around you
is concerned. You are fully engaged at this time in finding your own way
home.
As the month begins, you are feeling the impact of others in your life on
you in a new way, and of Spirit within you as well, as you come to a greater
understanding of the interaction for you between these two types of relationship.
This is an important monthly cycle for you in terms of growth to the extent
that you allow it in.
The New Moon of Wednesday October 10th leads you to unexpected epiphany.
At this time you are uniting heart and mind, inner knowing and outer assurance,
private dream reality and the simplicity of daily life on the earth. As the
Zen master tells his student when asked how he might discover his true Buddha
nature – "Have you eaten your rice? Then go out and wash your
bowl" the God-nature for you right now is gratefully found in the most
ordinary things, which become supercharged with meaning and awareness. Although
these feelings can persist throughout the month, there may be adjustments
as this cycle continues to unfold.
Almost immediately following the New Moon, Mercury retrogrades in your sector
of higher mind, which last throughout the month and on into November. There
may be some re-thinking of your nascent perspective, or travel and educational
plans may alter for you as you go about finding your way through.
The First Quarter Moon of Friday, October 19th, may represent a particular
crux of potential conflict between the bliss of ultimate knowledge and the
stress of attending to the details including the impact of the agendas of
others.
The Full Moon that follows in the fourth week of the month, taking place
on Thursday, October 25th, also represents an important time of realignment
when your deeply held and essentially positive values are tested, when you
may find the inner gold of just knowing what comes next. Sometimes just putting
one foot ahead of the other gets you farther down the road than you ever
could have imagined.

Overview
of the Planets this month: Top
The
Astrology of October features Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, along with
Saturn and Chiron, and yet another Mercury retrograde taking place
mid-month, just one day after the New Moon, and lasting throughout
the rest of the month. The Libra New Moon also triggers an expansive
and illuminating Jupiter – Uranus square, forming up this month
for one last pass. The future-oriented and expansive planetary energies
of Jupiter and Uranus are antithetical to the limitation and contraction
represented by Saturn, busily keeping the lid on the status quo. Saturn
is slowly moving over the next two years into a square alignment with
Pluto, currently in Sagittarius.
This square will not complete until both Pluto and Saturn have changed
signs, and as it perfects in the fall of 2009 there are likely to be
fireworks. The current Saturn emphasis might be seen as a precursor
to that larger and mightier movement, when we are likely to discover
the true meaning in our times of conservative authoritarianism and
accompanying social unrest. We are now only on the fringes of that
greater cataclysm.
As Jupiter remains in square with Uranus through the first half of
the month, in Sagittarius and Pisces respectively, we are stimulated
with new ideas and ideals for a better solution. The seeds of this
new world to come through the chaos of its birth are all around us,
and will definitely be called into service at this vital time. The
New Moon of October 10th triggers this square as it also aspects Venus
in Virgo, just coming into alignment with Saturn, and with the Moon's
nodal axis.
The square between Jupiter and Uranus represents enlightenment and
changing perspectives, a positive note to counter the potential thoughts
of doom and gloom constriction and despair, and has been building since
Jupiter stationed last August. It has been and continues to be exciting
to contemplate the possibility of finding a new way to get through
our pressing social problems, which is, after all, only a motion away.
If we were all only to find ourselves on the same page at the same
time, what miracles could be accomplished! The "we" that
I am referring to is, of course, every person currently on the planet.
It may seem like an impossible dream, but that is the kind of vision
that is blowing in the wind currently, in contrast to the dire cautionary
symbolism represented by Saturn and the powers that be.
In the midst of the outer planet energies swirling around us at this
time, Chiron, squaring Mercury as it stations retrograde on the 11th,
represents the increasing consciousness of painful past patterns of
conditioning that are ripe for review and discard, especially with
the liberating symbolism of Jupiter and Uranus at our disposal right
now. The important mid-month configurations remind us also that our
own personal transformation will, as in one piece of a holographic
image, effect a corresponding change in the world around us. We can
choose to keep on making ourselves miserable, that is certainly one
choice, or we can join a movement toward freedom from the past. Letting
go of our grip on dysfunction is the key to happiness, in this or any
other situation, but especially so in these climactic times.
Current Moon Configurations
The Last Quarter Moon of early morning on Wednesday, October 3rd,
highlights the energy from the previous New Moon in unexpected ways.
This is a time when the impulse of the previous cycle plays itself
out to mixed reviews in terms of concrete actualization, and when an
increase of consciousness accompanies each deficit in our ability to
deliver on the promises that we have made to ourselves over the previous
three weeks. This time, these considerations may be particularly poignant
as the Moon in Cancer, squaring the Sun, occupies the same sign as
Mars, newly arrived in Cancer and ruler of the Sun's opposite sign
of Aries. Venus also trines Pluto, emphasizing the evolutionary power
these days of our ability to see the world with different eyes. Mars
will remain in Cancer for an unprecedented six month period, since
it retrogrades there from mid-November to late January.
The Libra New Moon of Wednesday, October 10th, taking place in the
18th degree of the sign, trines Neptune in Aquarius, and triggers a
powerful Jupiter – Uranus square in similar degrees of Sagittarius
and Pisces respectively. Uranus speaks to us from beyond this earthly
plane through the power of our intuition, and placed in Pisces and
in mutual reception with Neptune contributes mightily to our non-physical
understanding. Flashes of inspiration are likely to accompany this
New Moon, just as they did the last, the powerful September 11th eclipse
in Virgo that opposed Uranus. This New Moon is especially powerful
in light of the exact sesquiquadrate between Sun/Moon and the Uranus/Neptune
midpoint at this time, an aspect that the following Full Moon will
also bring out, highlighting the visionary nature of this entire month.
Mercury retrogrades at the tenth degree of Scorpio the next day (Oct
11), creating a great time for reflection and introspection, and for
journaling, although of course famous for missed connections and mechanical
breakdowns as well. Mercury stations direct on November 1st; the retrograde
remains active until mid-November however, when you include the period
of the retrograde shadow. This is a time when the signs of Scorpio
and later Libra are emphasized and when we may find ourselves looking
more closely into all our motivations.
The First Quarter Moon of late in the week following, taking place
on Friday, October 19th, is quite interesting in that it aspects Pluto
in Sagittarius, bringing up his transformative energy, so powerful
in these last days of the year, leading up to his entrance into Capricorn
in mid-January. Just before that happens, on December 23rd, Jupiter
conjoins Pluto in the last few degrees of the sign, which will be an
epic moment in an amazing late fall and early winter period. This part
of the October time frame is a powerful one as well. The Sun's ruler
Venus also conjuncts Saturn at this time, reminding us of the serious
nature of all our pursuits when we take them at the deepest level.
The Full Moon of Thursday, October 25th, heralds the Sun's entrance
into Scorpio, and the time of the year when the veil between the worlds
is stretched thinner. Venus now exactly opposes visionary Uranus. This
year we have plenty of food for thought, symbolized by the inner planet
retrogrades, first Venus and now Mercury, that have been active all
this fall period. Since this degree also trines the Uranus/Neptune
midpoint, and the Nodal Axis, the food is mystical and quite nourishing
for our inner understanding.
