Your
horoscope will be more detailed and accurate if you read all
three of your signs - your Moon sign, your Rising sign, and
your Sun sign: What
are your Signs?
Your Moon sign symbolizes your personal
self, your feelings, your subconscious. It symbolizes how you relate
to others, how you have nurturing relationships with others, your intuition,
your spiritual self, your sense of security, and your habits. The Moon
symbolizes your feminine, nurturing side (we all have one).
The Moon also indicates the type of partner you will attract, since
it symbolizes your emotional self.
Your Moon sign horoscope will show you what these areas of your self
will encounter this month.
Your Rising sign symbolizes your outer
mask, the self you show to others. It symbolizes how you appear to
others, how others perceive you, in your true interaction with the
world.
Your Rising sign horoscope will tell you what to expect in these areas
of your self this month.
Your Sun sign symbolizes your Self, your
way of being in the world. It can represent both the ego (mental) self
and the higher Self (soul purpose). It symbolizes your will and sense
of vitality.
Your Sun sign horoscope will tell you what these areas of your self
will encounter this month.
Aires (March
20 - April 18) Fire. Ruling planet Mars. Top
This
is a season of personal transformation for you, Aries. Your self-expression
is blossoming and purposeful, and it's a sexy time for you to be alive. Partners
are helpful at this time, but perhaps the most important lesson that they
supply you with right now is that for the vital aspects of your development
you must go it alone. You are seeking a tremendous ideal of service to the
greater collective that seems like a necessity rather than a whim, and it
is changing you from the inside out. A year from now or even six months,
and you'll barely recognize yourself.
As the month begins, you are alert to the changes that have been going on lately,
with you, and with the world around you. This is indeed a profound and exciting
time, when much that has been established over past years and even decades
is subject to review and outright revision. Within your own personal space,
the dawn of a new era is upon you. It begins with a concept of right relationship
and continues with a thorough-going transformation of all that you do in the
world as a reflection of what you hold deep inside you. Your vision is activated
now for a better tomorrow, as has been the case all year; and in the course
of this month you will find that the time has come to really step up to the
plate and deliver.
The first week of the month, through the weekend and leading up to the Last
Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, is an interesting and thought-provoking
time, when your perspective is shifting still further, brought on by the rush
of events. The days surrounding the 8th constitute a time when the wisdom of
your choices really comes to bear upon you; you are more fully conscious of
what no longer works for you – without however necessarily coming to
a solution. Partnership is powerful at this time, alerting you to the necessity
for changes to the structure of your relationships and regarding your own career
goals as well.
When the New Moon comes along on the following Wednesday, December 16th, it
signals a fresh start in conceptualizing your world. Your vision for the future
is strong now, and might be powerful enough to sweep away before it every objection,
so that it becomes very important to honor the small voice of critical thinking
that is also present in you, perhaps expressed by significant others. This
mid-month period is a powerful time, when many things will become clearer,
and when action stalls in the face of introspection and deep thinking.
The Winter Solstice of Monday, December 21st, is significant for you also and
is preceded by one day with the retrograde of your ruler, Mars, which lasts
for several months into March of 2010. During this time your natural inclination
will be less rash than your normal impetuosity, so be prepared for that. You
haven't lost anything, you are just regrouping. You can use this time most
profitably in examining the changes for yourself and for the world around you
as we prepare to exit the first of three climactic years leading up to 2012.
Each one is a further stage of transformation, for you and for everyone else.
In this year-end time, the necessity for deep and dramatic change in both personal
and collective life is getting more and more obvious.
All during Christmas week the tension builds, highlighted by the First Quarter
Moon of Thursday, Christmas Eve, December 24th. The New Years Eve eclipse and
Full Moon of December 31st represents another very powerful time in a powerful
turning of the year, as we open up the box of 2010 and all that it might involve,
and entail.
Taurus (April
19 - May 19) Earth. Ruling planet Venus. Top
Partnership is powerful for you right now, Taurus, and tunes you in
to your most idealistic mode of being and doing. Creative conflict
is productive of deep-seated changes in how you accomplish your goals.
You are seeing the world around you not so much from the standpoint
of what is, but rather of what it could become. This goes for you and
for others as well. Domestic situations represent issues that could
flare up rather suddenly, requiring adjustment. It's all good when
you look at it right, and it all contributes to your growing sense
that the world could be reborn differently, to the advantage of everyone.
As the month begins, you are entering yet another phase of the series
of profound transformations and changes of perspective that you are
currently embarked upon, balancing issues of self and other and within
that balance seeking new ideals of personal evolution. Perspective
shifts lately have been highlighting just where you might be able to
find your true calling, but it has been hard to hear the full message.
Now perhaps the time has come to move through the rat race maze in
a new way. It is exciting to at least contemplate the possibilities.
With the Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, you have in a
sense come full circle. You are imagining success and that feeds on
itself so that it becomes success, but the question is how you define
it. It is certain that partnership with significant others is a big
part of the story, and with your inner world as well. Spirit illuminates
your pathway forward but it is you who must direct your steps as indicated.
Freedom is a wonderful thing and as well as being a simple blessing,
simultaneously creates an obligation since you now must take responsibility
for yourself.
The New Moon of the following week, taking place on Wednesday, December
16th, is a good time for a fresh move. You are in some sense a spiritual
warrior these days, an advocate for your own unique brand of healing.
This goes for others as well as for yourself, but of course you must
be as clear as possible within the confines of your own mind and heart
before you are truly effectively available for others around you. This
is an extreme time, and calls for extreme solutions, and the moment
to act is at this mid-month period, rather than later.
The Winter Solstice of Monday, December 21st, provides excellent food
for thought and an opening to a different way of seeing the world around
you that changes everything, since vision precedes action.
Then the First Quarter Moon of Thursday, December 24th, is also an
intense time, when you will be tested in some way and when you are
challenged to step up to the plate and see it through, no matter how
difficult that might turn out to be. The retrograde of Mercury that
follows the Christmas holiday make the last week of the month better
suited for contemplation and preparation along the lines you have already
drawn than for leaping off into new directions. The turning of the
year is thus a ripe period for introspection and for reviewing and
refining your vision. As astrologer Carolyn Casey declares, "imagination
lays the tracks for the reality train," so that this period of
introspection will eventually play out in terms of action, late in
January or even into the spring.
The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse of New Years Eve, Thursday the 31st,
punctuates this end-of-year period with a call for greater awareness
and greater articulation of that awareness, as you move more or less
boldly into an uncertain decade.
Gemini (May
20 - June 20) Air. Ruling planet Mercury. Top
You are getting straight on what you want to be when you grow up,
Gemini. You are definitely in this for the long haul, and career is
only part of the story. Significant partners provide the catalyst for
your own process of spiritual and emotional evolution. Your perspective
is slowly but surely morphing into something entirely different from
your old self, even of a year ago. There is a new softening of your
hard edges, and a joy that bubbles up through the greatest difficulty.
It's not that challenges no longer continue, just that you find that
you can ride them out more successfully. Your vision suddenly clears
and everything alters in an instant.
As the month begins, you are open to all your possibilities. This is
an impressive ending of the year period that you are entering, and
will prove both challenging and productive, especially if you take
it seriously. Partnership with significant others is an important part
of your current mission statement, and you might find that relationship
is helpful not only in providing a mirror for your process of growing
awareness but also in creatively expanding your vision to be more inclusive
than when based on just your own input. The Full Moon late on the 1st
is an important turning point, and takes you into a further phase of
learning and growing that doesn't let up for the several weeks into
the New Year.
Then the first weekend of December, and the days leading up to the
Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, may represent a point of
tension in your process, as you come to see further into your situation,
and will also prove to be a time of great power and beauty as you begin
to feel more fully connected to the spiritual underpinning of surface
reality. You are a ghost in the machine of circumstance; a spiritual
being inhabiting a physical body rather than the other way around.
The New Moon taking place one week later, on Wednesday, December 16th,
makes for a fresh start in all that is going on for you internally,
and presents you with choices that are cosmically designed just for
you and your progress. The world is opening up for you in a new way
at this time, with a new vision. Whatever you can imagine now can be
turned into action at some point in the future, since believing is
truly seeing. Over the next ten days both Mars and your ruler Mercury
will turn retrograde, taking this forward-going energy more internal
and with greater self-reflection. All through the latter half of December
it is a terrific time to journal, and to otherwise discuss and plan.
The retrograde period officially starts on the 26th, and goes on for
several weeks to mid-January and beyond.
The Christmas Eve First Quarter Moon, taking place on Thursday, December
24th, at the very beginning stages of the retrograde period, represents
a wild and exciting time. This is when the impulse arises in you to
become your own best advocate, a spiritual warrior for your own unique
cause, allowing your inner vision to expand and preparing you for further
transformation. Change is a good thing as long as you can get past
the fear.
Then as the year and the decade fades away, the Lunar Eclipse and Full
Moon of New Years Eve, December 31st, beckons you onward toward your
destiny. The fate that is in store for you in the New Year involves
others as well as yourself, and takes intimate communication up another
notch or two in the process.
Cancer (June
21 - July 21) Water. Ruling planet is the Moon. Top
You are seeking stability in the midst of stormy weather, Cancer,
surfing the waves of change. This is an interesting and in some
ways quite a difficult time for you but also one that is full of
blessings. There has to be a way that you can find to make your
path from the non-functioning present circumstance to the unimaginable
future. The steps you take are conscious ones, but unconscious
forces drive them, as you undergo your very own velvet revolution.
In this process nothing is simple or exactly what it appears to
be. You do best by watching and waiting, to whatever extent this
is possible, entirely without agenda or expectation.
As the month begins, you are firmly invested in exploring your
inner world. This is true even though outer manifestation beckons,
especially in terms of relationship and family dynamics. You are
still feeling the boost to your self-esteem represented by the
New Moon from the middle of last month that took place in your
sector of creative self-expression, and have discovered through
the intervening perspective shifts that your presentation must
involve Spirit as a principle component rather than a bit player.
In that context, you are opening to new possibilities of partnership
with the surrounding collective and with an inner concept of right
livelihood that has been evolving for you over recent months. The
wisdom of tribe or family has come to supplant a stricter notion
of self-reliance that winds up being more isolating than inclusive.
The Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, might provide a
moment of tension in your process, and the consequential enlightenment
that comes when you least expect it. As you give of yourself and
recognize the depth of your connection to others, careful communication
is key. You want to be sure to avoid resentment, perhaps by making
it your watchword that if it doesn't feel good you won't do it.
The New Moon taking place in the middle of the following week,
on Wednesday, December 16th, confirms you in the essentially unworldly
turn that life has recently taken for you, and opens new doorways
in the same direction. You are drawn now to consider how you can
be of actual service to others on the planet and to discover a
calling that matches the idealism of your inner vision. Opportunity
for growth is massive for you now, but it has to be growth in the
right spiritual direction.
The Winter Solstice that takes place on Monday, December 21st,
brings partnership more fully into the picture, as you seek allies
in your struggle for transcendence.
When the First Quarter Moon hits a few days later, on Thursday,
December 24th, there is a time of relative tension that only yields
to your making conscious choices. It is important to note that
the Mercury retrograde period of time beginning at this juncture
will mean that following through with existing plans is a better
idea than forging new ones, at least until after the end of January
when Mercury finally recovers its lost Zodiacal ground. There is
an evolutionary pressure upon you now that lessons when you pick
the direction where things are already going and decide to head
that way.
The Lunar Eclipse in your sign the last day of the year, on the
morning of December 31st, represents a powerful turning point also.
You are not just settling for whatever you can get but actively
striving to get what you truly need in order to be fulfilled.
Leo (July
22 - August 21) Fire. Ruling planet
is the Sun. Top
This is a wild and crazy time for you, Leo. It's all stop and
go. Your progress is rapid in many ways but sometimes a case
of two steps forward and one back. Your self-expression is vibrant
through it all and you find that you have a lot to say, although
in a serious and practical mode. Your concept of service to others
and to the surrounding collective is altering, giving you fresh
impetus to find your own unique design for living, while significant
partners continue to play an important role. You are seeking
and sometimes even finding the ideal form of interaction that
provides for your own freedom of action without entirely sacrificing
partnership connection.
As the month begins, you are perhaps even a bit started by the
extent of your personal creativity, all burners going and the
pots boiling away. Relationship is a mystical and a joyous exploration
for you right now, and made more so by the developments you will
encounter over the course of this month's journey. You are providing
for others and for yourself some form of penetrating insight
lately that allows you to more fully discern your true calling,
and that is a joy in itself as well as a burden. When you find
out what you could be doing in the world that natural question
arises as to why you aren't doing it – in most cases at
least – and then comes the sense of responsibility implicit
in taking charge. However, as the adepts say, slowly, slowly!
The Last Quarter Moon taking place on Tuesday, December 8th,
comes as a reminder that struggle is an essential and even a
natural part of life, and could be accompanied by surprising
insights into the arc of your development. That train may already
be leaving the station and leaving behind as well its relative
safety, but oh, the novel vistas that will follow.
You'll be plunging into new realities still further with the
advent of the New Moon of the following week, taking place on
Wednesday, December 16th. This represents the real kick-off into
the unknown and untested waters of the deep psyche, waiting there
for you as they have all along. You are simultaneously examining
fresh territory in relationship concepts and healing ancient
wounds in that area from the past. Everything can change in a
moment when you discover new eyes to see with. Ideas for a calling
appropriate to your vision are coming over you at this time and
you would do well to heed them. The window for action is now
rather than later in the month, when retrograding personal planets
indicate that a time-out is called for, rather then a full-court
press.
After the 20th and especially after the 26th, it could be the
right time to slow down and be contemplative, reflecting on conditions
rather than trying to change them. On the 20th, Mars retrogrades
in your identity sector and later on, on the 26th, Mercury retrogrades
in your sector of everyday activity and discipleship to your
higher purpose for yourself.
The Winter Solstice takes place on Monday, December 21st, and
this is a powerful time for you and for the planet, as you become
aware in greater detail of the necessity that some key element
of your structure must change.
The Christmas Eve First Quarter Moon of the 24th indicates a
time when the push for action is matched by an equal and balanced
call for stillness from within, and when insight puts the brakes
on too-precipitous forward motion. When Mercury retrogrades on
the 26th, it initiates a period of five weeks or so, past the
end of January, when it is better not to push the river.
Then on New Years Eve comes the Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon that
punctuates this end-of-the-year period with a sense of grace
unfolding. Partnership is powerful for you right now, and grants
you a sense of the mystical possibilities inherent in your own
arc of development as you head into the unknown potentiality
of this New Year.
Virgo (August
22 - September 21) Earth. Ruling planet
Mercury. Top
Things are starting to become clear, Virgo. You have felt the
tides of transformation tugging at your ankles and now you're
wading into the surf zone. This would be scary if it were not
for what you are gratefully leaving behind in terms of life patterns
that no longer work for you. You are feeling the idealization
of what you might do in terms of vocation that would be a better
match for your true calling, grounded in your inner world rather
than anything outer. You are going for what makes sense to change
and leaving the rest alone; that's good. Now you just have to
muster the good fortune to be able to figure out the difference.
As the month begins, you are very focused on home and family
concerns. This is an important time of the year for you, and
one in which you are beset with loads of work as well as the
blessings and benefits of lots of activity on the home front.
This month is also a special time because your ruler Mercury
will eventually retrograde, after Christmas, in your sector of
creativity and self-expression, giving you a boost of energy
for rethinking and reevaluating your position. In the meantime,
over these first three weeks, there is opportunity to take well-considered
action.
The Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, represents a
call to something larger than yourself, as you strive to reinvent
your approach. You are trying to get to the bottom of who you
are and what you can create. Financial issues will continue to
plague you until you recognize that your security needs are truly
met within your own mind and heart rather than by any external
means. The influence of Spirit plays a larger role than you might
have previously been willing to acknowledge, as these next few
weeks, on into the New Year, will make more apparent.
The New Moon that comes along a week later, on Wednesday, December
16th, presents you with an onrush of energy and fresh perspectives,
emphasizing homey concerns of tribe or family and reflective
of psychological root questions of the deepest variety. There
is a mystical correspondence between these issues and what you
feel you must do in the world in order to be truly satisfied,
and you are groping toward that connection right now, the ideal
of a higher calling.
The week that follows, leading through the Winter Solstice of
Monday, December 21st, and up to the First Quarter Moon of Wednesday
the 24th, will provide much food for thought, as you attempt
to overtly recognize the unconscious forces within the psyche
and to take account of their influence in a relatively conscious
way. This is powerful medicine, and well worth taking the time
for getting it right. You might want to forget about progress
for a while and just meditate of where you are headed. With your
ruler Mercury retrograde for at least three weeks, actually until
past the end of January when you take the period of the retrograde
shadow into account, it not the time to push the river, but rather
to remain introspective, and to try to be present to whatever
comes along.
The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on New Years Eve, Thursday, December
31st, will open you up to all your possibilities and perhaps
be productive of sudden epiphany. This is still a wonderful world,
in spite of appearances, and provides constant opportunity to
transcend the merely mundane and to embrace the miraculous in
daily living.
Libra (September
22 - October 22) Air. Ruling planet Venus. Top
It's been difficult, Libra. You are working through some very
important issues lately. The subject of money is on the table
for sure, but above and beyond that there is the concept of
what makes you safe. Last month you began with a crucial first
step; rather than pursuing only what normal consensus thinking
would recognize, you are seeking the basis of your security
in terms of visionary self-expression and radical creativity.
Lightening bolts of newfound awareness are burning off the
mist of foggy notions of what doesn't make you tick. Now you
are set to begin to discover what does.
As the month begins, you are feeling the pinch of circumstances
brought on by financial and logistical issues you are currently
experiencing. An essentially artistic tendency that you have
right now tends to minimize the practical concerns. There is
a struggle going on inside you between the ideal and the real,
and it seems at times as though reality was winning. But nothing
is as simple as it seems. There are lessons in difficult circumstances
that build character, and character is the true gold of your
existence. Of course it is also important to not be taken in
by illusion, so that finding the right mix is a delicate exercise
that is ongoing.
At the time of the Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th,
you are balancing these perspectives and more as you continue
to make plans for a more vibrant and heartful engagement with
the world around you. There might be a few snags in working
things out at this time but also the wisdom to sort out what
really counts. Communication is important for you right now,
as articulating your ideas gives them currency.
This is even truer with the New Moon of the following week,
taking place on Wednesday, December 16th, in your communications
sector. The opinions of others are strong at times, but also
extremely valuable to you right now, especially if you can
accept what is valid for your own process and let the rest
go by. This is an important fresh start for you in your struggle
to accommodate all kinds of input, including that from your
own deep center, the keel and stability of your own arc of
development, as you maneuver to keep your ship on course.
With the advent of the weekend of December 19th and the Winter
Solstice a few days later on Monday the 21st, you are deeply
involved in finding your own precise perspective on major changes
that you are going through. Forward momentum may be less important
now than getting it right for the sake of the future. You are
exploring all your possibilities, and weighing the result,
and fantasy counts almost as much as the doable. As well as
allowing your mind to take fantastic leaps, you may need to
exercise caution but you have that also in abundant supply.
During the last week of the year, beginning with the First
Quarter Moon of Thursday, December 24th, all these ideas come
to a head. You are definitely going through quite a lot of
soul-searching at this time, as you seek to redefine yourself
in some way.
A difficult passage climaxes in the Full Moon eclipse of New
Years Eve, Thursday December 31st. This entire end-of-year
time is a soul-defining effort, and yet also packs a lot of
joy into the notion that things can truly change for you. It
is good of course to also be aware that nothing changes without
a struggle. This is a joyous battle however, one in which you
are lured on by the promise of a brighter tomorrow on the other
side of this particular rainbow.
Scorpio (October
23 - Nov 21) Water. Ruling planets Mars,
Pluto. Top
You are having the time of your life right now, Scorpio; it's
a new universe out there that awaits you. Your work is not only
all-consuming, but has a visionary flair to it, especially after
the middle of the month. Right from the very beginning of December
you are stirring up issues of self and other and settling into
a spiritual connection with family and tribe. You are working
hard and sometimes it feels like you are not getting anywhere,
but this is wrong. Illuminating inner realities is also an important
task, and one that serves you well as you head into the New Year.
As the month begins, you find yourself in the midst of an exciting
time, as you begin to see your possibilities blossom that were
only implied in the last two weeks of November. Your ruler Mars
in your career sector indicates that you are plenty busy at the
moment, full of the requirements of the outer world. Yet, in
some sense, you are in the world and not of it as well; partaking
of a spiritually rich inner world at the same time as you perform
and frolic in the outer one.
The Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, might give you
pause, bringing a momentary spot of tension to your dealings
with others and forging the wisdom of greater awareness as you
look more deeply into what works for you right now and what does
not in your process of growth. You have a penetrating mental
capacity and communication style at this time which might get
you into trouble occasionally but which also serves you well
as you consider your choices in the changed atmosphere of greater
knowledge.
With the mid-month New Moon taking place on Wednesday, December
16th, there is a fresh burst of energy to deal with security
and other issues. There is a sense of idealism that pervades
your thinking now, and also a sense of bewilderment regarding
what are perhaps too many choices. The energy that you are feeling
at your core at this time is literally out of this world, and
represents a departure from the busy-ness of the world as usual.
It is wonderful and magical but there can be confusion. At the
same time, on the outer levels of your being, you are very investing
in actively pursuing a sense of financial gain and long-term
safety. Security in the financial sense is only one part of the
puzzle, and you are finding that your ideas in this connection
can transform along with everything else in your life these days,
allowing for the concept of discovering true security in terms
of the spiritual structure of your life.
The picture gets murkier with the retrograde of your ruler Mars
on Sunday, December 20th. The days surrounding this event constitute
a strange time when you life seems to run backwards. Mars will
be retrograde well into March of 2010 but by that time you will
be used to it. It is the transition that is the hardest part.
The Mars retrograde, and the Mercury retrograde that follows
about a week later, symbolize an introspective period of time
when it is recommended that you reflect on where you have been
lately in your life rather than promote new ventures.
The week leading up to Christmas day is punctuated by the First
Quarter Moon of Thursday, December 24th, when your communicative
ventures might run awry in some way, so that you win when you
pay careful attention to everything that you say. Then the Lunar
Eclipse of New Years Eve, December 31st, represents another powerful
time, when your outreach to others is maximized and when productive
insights are born inside you. The world around you becomes more
purposeful, leading into the New Year.
Sagittarius (Nov
22 - Dec 20) Fire. Ruling planet Jupiter. Top
You are coming at the world a little differently these days, Sagittarius.
You are truly the butterfly spreading new and uncertain wings after
a recent period of hibernation. Your communication is visionary and
inspired, and takes you into unknown inner spaces for everyone's
benefit. The connections that you continue to forge with others are
helping you to unfold from your chrysalis. It is a season of change
that is upon you now, and you are rewarded when you make the least
initiating gesture toward something new. That initial step you take
is crucial even if it subsequently turns out to be in a wrong direction
for as the poet says there is boldness and magic in it.
As the month begins, you are experiencing the fulfillment of a quest
that is essentially spiritual, and your communicative outreach reflects
this fact. You are dealing with issues of balancing self and other
at this time, more or less successfully. There is a mystical fog
surrounding your contacts with others that could lead you into snares
of illusion or even outright deception, but on the other hand you
are also embracing a practical and real-world approach to your societal
connection in general, and to group activities that you currently
participate in, that serves you well amidst the potential confusion
of your thought process.
The Last Quarter Moon of second week of the month, taking place on
Tuesday, December 8th, presents you with a few bumps in your road;
perhaps some conflict might come up between professional and private
life or interpersonal relations might have some shaky moments. You
are in a mystical place of almost psychic attunement at this time,
and while the ground beneath your feet is a trifle unsteady, there
is added value in terms of your connection to the universe and insight
gained.
The New Moon that follows one week later on Wednesday, December 16th,
gives you a burst of energy for both otherworldly and more mundanely
social projects. This is a terrific time for ritual magic, or for
mystical writing of any kind. This is a week when you might profitably
blog, or journal for yourself alone, and there will be a large dose
of cosmic consciousness running through it all. This is an extremely
active time for you and one that is productive of great shifts in
perspective.
The following week provides further excitement as the period from
the Winter Solstice on Monday, December 21st to Thursday, the 24th,
is an especially intense time of growth and change. You are dealing
with your concept of security right now, and what makes you feel
safe. There is a way that you are currently restructuring how you
connect with the surrounding society in general and you are still
formulating your response to this at the feeling level.
Then the Full Moon eclipse of Thursday, December 31st, puts you smack
in the middle of your process, kicking off your New Year. Another
eclipse takes place mid-January, and the intervening period will
be profound.
s
When Mercury retrogrades on December 26th it puts you in a place
of thoughtful reflection – rather than outgoing progress – that
will last all through January. Since Mars is also retrograde at this
time, there is a general slow-down. This is fine as long as you realize
that you just will not get as much done over the next few months
as you have in the first three weeks of this one.
Capricorn (Dec
21 - Jan 19) Earth. Ruling planet Saturn. Top
This month represents a pause in the volatile series of events that
have been coming down lately, Capricorn, a sort of time-out that
you didn't even have to call. Until the Winter Solstice transpires
on the 21st you can use this time profitably to gather your strength
for your next phase. The thorough-going transformation that you are
currently engaged in may be far from over. In the meantime, hard
work and plenty of it continues, plagued only by the natural questioning
that comes from not being totally sure about your direction. You
win when you move forward as best you can with a positive agenda
but with little or no attachment to any conceivable outcome.
As the month begins, you are dwelling in the paradoxical situation
of a great deal of presence in the practical world, coupled with
influences that take you to the inside, away from it all. This Christmas
you are feeling the spirit of the season in more ways than one, both
in activity and in the silence of the depths within you. Of course
it is important to heed these inner voices, but don't forget that
it is also important that you heed the call of the world all around
you and shine in that regard also. We don't get to have it just one
way. There is definitely pressure upon you to achieve as well as
to ponder.
This issue is accentuated at the time of the Last Quarter Moon of
Tuesday, December 8th, when you will feel to some extent the conflict
inherent your situation, and also the dawning perspective that makes
it all part of a bigger picture that even begins to make sense of
it all. This is when you might reflect on what pieces of everything
that you have been up to are truly viable. This is also a time when
the glimmer of an idea might emerge regarding your true calling in
this world. In general there is quite a bit of food for thought available
to you throughout the month, especially in its final days when Mercury
retrogrades in your sign.
The mid-month New Moon that takes place on Wednesday, December 16th
is one highlight, when powerful feelings are invoked that encourage
you on a soul journey to inner rather than outer realms, and when
the world is very much with you also. Some voice inside you is asking
you to remain as conscious as possible in your choices, as you continue
to change and grow in the final month of what has been an entirely
transformative year.
The Winter Solstice, when it comes along at the beginning of the
following week, on Monday, December 21st, repersents another accent
mark on what you are already well-aware of, that not only the times
are a'changin' but you right along with them. The evolutionary pressure
is strong on you at this time, but things become much lighter when
you make that subtle turning within yourself that decides to just
go with the flow. This is much easier than bucking the tide, as you
have been discovering in fits and starts all year long.
The First Quarter Moon of Thursday the 24th, Christmas Eve, is another
important turning point when you might be compelled to recognize
how vital are the changes that you are going through for your continued
well-being, remember also that the deeper meaning of vital is to
be life-enhancing.
One week later, the Lunar eclipse of December 31st that jolts you
into the New Year represents another powerful time, when you will
be asked by the universe to step up to the plate and swing away.
As Dylan put it during the climactic era of the sixties, a period
of time that is very similar to the chaos and potential creativity
of these next few years, "everybody not busy being born is busy
dying;" and that includes especially you, dear Capricorn.
Aquarius (Jan
20 - Feb 18) Air. Ruling planets Uranus,
Saturn. Top
This is an exciting time for you, Aquarius. Your oncoming next
phase includes forming a new vision of the world around you as
well. Your work in the world is currently blossoming along with
your finances, but what might prove to be even more important is
everything that is going on behind the scenes. You are coming to
a new conception of the interaction with the emotional riches at
the deepest levels of your being, and simultaneously looking in
as well as looking out. After the mid-month New Moon you will be
full of dreams and schemes to pursue, and it is important that
you pursue them, but you are also in the process of becoming increasingly
aware that mystical ideas rule.
As the month begins, you are riding the wave from the middle of
last month of the New Moon in your career sector. You are on the
one hand very gung ho right now and bullish on getting things accomplished,
but on the other you are simultaneously more dreamy and not entirely
of this world. There is a mystical sense of idealism present in
you these days, bordering on illusion, that is appealing but perhaps
not as practical and grounded as you would like, and that counters
a more realistic approach to getting where you actually want to
be.
The Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, may present you
with a moment of tension in your process of growth and change.
Perspective shifts with increased awareness. You are dealing with
the input of others around you in a new way and there could be
glitches to contend with. You may also be facing up to old wounds
from the past to your self-esteem, and attempting to move beyond
them. Nothing that exists within your psyche is exactly as it seems,
and you are never angry for the reason that you think you are.
At the time of the New Moon that comes along a week later, taking
place on Wednesday, December 16th, there is fresh energy for your
various approaches. This is a terrific time of visioning a more
fulfilling future for yourself. You are seeing more clearly right
now into a future that you can really live with, and you have plenty
of energy for starting to complete this vision, although the window
of time to act is short, since you will probably slow down into
a more contemplative stance when Mars and Mercury retrograde toward
the end of the month. There is a unique path toward wholeness that
is opening up for you right now and it is your task to find it.
When the First Quarter Moon appears in the following week, on Thursday,
December 24th, there are likely to be some bumps in the road as
you more clearly into what does and doesn't work for you, and as
you absorb the systemic difficulties in your approach. You are
entering into a quiet period of time when gazing within and meditating
on your situation is more productive than trying to push things
through to completion.
Mercury retrogrades on the 26th, and Mars has already been retrograde
for a week by this time, the Sun has entered your sector of inner
imagination and all three of these configurations indicate a period
more suited to introspection. The Lunar Eclipse of New Years Eve
also finds you more attuned to inner than to outer realms. This
will be a contemplative and thought-provoking New Year celebration
as you ease into the largely unknown territory of 2010.
Pisces (Feb
19 - March 19) Water. Ruling planets Neptune, Jupiter. Top
You are feeling quite strongly your connection to your spiritual
roots, Pisces. Along with this sense of the numinous come intuitive
and sometimes contradictory impulses. Ideas flash into consciousness
and it seems like you are on the move, then just as suddenly fade
away into the ether. You are feeling the need for action, and yet
remain unsure of exactly what that action might be. The secret lies
in letting go. You will be launching yourself into many new directions,
especially after the middle of the month, but you must remain detached
from any particular outcome, allowing the wisdom of the universe
to decide your final course.
As the month begins, you are enjoying the crowning of new point of
view that enables you to see beyond this present horizon and into
a more fulfilling future. Worldly success is available to you now
in some form, although difficulties remain. You are also more fully
committed to your own unique path; a belief system that matches your
high ideals. The goal is that you somehow unite heart and mind. You
are perhaps feeling a bit alienated at the moment, trying to find
a spiritual connection to your inner world that will enable you to
reconcile the two and coming up short. It could also be that there
will be some serious healing involved over the course of this current
month. This could involve past patterns of behavior that were appropriate
to their time but that now no longer serve you. Even though they
may be buried away in your unconscious and therefore not easy to
access, you will likely come to understand these issues better, and
as you do, healing results.
The Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, represents a time
of tension in your process of increasing awareness, and a time when
you are gathering together the wisdom to make the right choices.
This process could be regarding your calling, and the way that you
plug yourself into the surrounding social order. There are surprises
in store for you at this time that will bring you to a better understanding
of exactly where you need to modify your approach.
With the New Moon of the following week, taking place on Wednesday,
December 16th, there is fresh energy for a new way of showing up
in the world, one that is more consistent with inner principles.
You will likely encounter allies at this time – and also the
angel voices of your inner guides – that will help you along
your way.
The First Quarter Moon of Thursday, the 24th, is another time of
relative tension in your process, when the rubber meets the road
in terms of changes that you are interested in making in your life
and when you will experience the natural growing pains of any new
system. Your mental picture of a future that you can really live
with is very active now. It is important that you heed this vision,
even though it may differ from your current course of action. You
are on the cusp of huge opportunity even though it might be difficult
at this time to really see it.
Things could shift into a more contemplative stance for you two days
later, on the 26th, when Mercury retrogrades in your sector of future
plans. This introduces a period of time when perception triumphs
over action, lasting until at least the end of January when you take
the period of the retrograde shadow into account. Mars is also retrograde
at this time, so that forward momentum slows in general. During this
period, it is better not to push ahead with any sudden departures
from existing plans if you can possibly avoid it.
The Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon of New Years Eve, December 31st,
is another powerful time for you, although colored by the retrogrades,
not therefore a time for direct action. You are looking more closely
into what really matters for you in terms of career and calling,
and attempting to merge the two concepts into one coherent vision.
The
Astrology of December features Mercury, Mars, Saturn and Pluto with
the last gasp of the triple conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune
also making an important appearance. Mercury retrogrades on the 26th – with
all the usual symptoms of missed communication and mechanical failures – making
the last part of December and all of January a useful time for reflection
and introspection. Mars is also featured by retrograde this month,
a fairly rare occurrence. He turns retrograde on the 20th, and leading
up to this date moves much more slowly in the heavens, becoming for
the moment a slow-moving, almost an "outer" planet. It is
theorized that the speed of a planet has a relationship to its astrological
impact, so this month is a perfect time to test that idea. From the
New Moon of December 16th to the end of the month Mars moves only a
total of three degrees: two degrees forward and one degree back.
Once into January he starts to pick up speed, but he is still moving
backward! This means that outer motivation and the urge to go out and
accomplish things will be turned inward throughout the last ten days
of the year and on into March of 2010. From mid-December onward we
might expect to see our motivation slowed and our outlook more serious.
This is especially true for anyone with planets in their chart within
a few degrees of 19 in a Fixed sign – that's Leo, Aquarius, Taurus
and Scorpio. Since Mars makes an aspect to Uranus when he stations
on the 20th, there is also the possibility of rash and ungoverned action
during the last half of the month, and we will do well to keep our
impulses in check. Mars also opposes Chiron over this period, so that
it is possible that we could now see further into dysfunctional patterns
of assertive and ego-oriented behavior perpetuated by ourselves and
by our culture, including fears of self-assertion stemming from our
early conditioning.
With Jupiter and Neptune currently aspecting Chiron by conjunction
we will find also the possibility of redemption and of transcending
of these wounded places.
The Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune conjunction becomes quite close during the
first half of the month especially, putting us in mind of how far we
have come in dealing with the spiritual issues that we face as a society,
and how far we still have to go. Jupiter is conjunct Chiron exactly
at the very beginning of the month, namely at the time of the December
1st Full Moon. Since Eris and Mars are also in this picture we might
want to beware of being overly reactive all during December.
Then by the December 16th New Moon which aspects the triple conjunction,
we find Jupiter occupying the midpoint of Chiron and Neptune, a mere
degree from each, bringing back the configuration that was also active
last May and June. There is optimism in this configuration, and also
the recognition that whatever spiritual path we are on is our own,
and that we simply cannot blend in with consensus thinking or naïve
assumptions about the way our dreams might have worked out. As a culture,
we are joyful to an extent at this time, and hopeful for the possibility
of a recovery, but we are also saddened by the thought that we can
never go back, that we are irrevocably past a certain kind of innocence.
The eclipses of December 31st and January 15th are powerful, and represent
a useful time for looking back over the first ten years of this new
century. This is due to the retrogrades of Mercury and Mars, and also
due to the Saturn-Pluto square that continues in full swing all through
December. This square is powerfully activated at the time of the Quarter
Moon of December 24th, and also by the eclipses of December 31st and
January 15th. With Mercury and Mars both retrograde at this time, there
is likely to be more reflection than action, but it will be a time
of profound reflection indeed. Then, and all through this period, we
are being made profoundly aware that something is changing, and changing
utterly, in the structure of our lives and of the life of the surrounding
culture. This represents another unfolding phase of what has preoccupied
this country and indeed the entire world since 9-11. Then too, a certain
kind of innocence was lost, that time in a cataclysmic event which
forever changed the parameters of our lives. This end-of-year time
in 2009 is when the reality of this event and our response really sinks
home, and when we might begin to navigate the transformed territory
that is left behind in its wake.
This end-of-the-year period is also a time when the rubber truly meets
the road with respect to the transformation that we are all experiencing.
It might be said that the time has come to face the music. The First
Quarter Moon of the 24th is one climax of the last ten days of the
month, but another comes when Mercury retrogrades on the 26th, the
day after Christmas, making it not such a good time to get things done,
and just when being productive is perhaps needed most. The entire lead-up
to the New Year is somewhat frustrating, with the New Years Eve eclipse
and Full Moon on the morning of the 31st likely to be even more so.
This New Years is therefore an excellent time to stay home and reflect
on the profound journey that you personally and we as a culture are
in the midst of. It is a good time for ritual; not a good time to party
like it's only 1999.
Current Moon Configurations
December 1st Full Moon
The Sagittarius Full Moon is accompanied by the entrance of Venus into the same
sign, while Jupiter forms an exact conjunction with Chiron in aspect to the nodal
axis. We might be more inclined to question ourselves and our capacity for remaining
wounded by the world, but we also have the ability to transcend that notion and
rise above our former limitations. Saturn with Pluto all month long gives a different
and more dire picture, but one that yields when we allow to simply take place
the structural shifts that are demanded of us over the course of this important
month.
December 8th Last Quarter Moon
This is an important configuration in which the Sun and Moon make a T-square
with Uranus so that anything can happen. We may be subject to surprises at this
time, and sudden enlightenment is certainly not out of the question. With Mars
in aspect to Uranus also, accidents are another possibility so that it pays to
be extra careful on the roads and in controlling reactivity.
December 16th New Moon
This powerful Sagittarius New Moon exactly sextiles Jupiter and Neptune, now
almost exactly conjunct each other in Aquarius. This creates an impulse toward
the mystical side of life rather than the merely mundane. Venus nearby is also
almost square a stationing Mars, emphasizing beauty and compassion, and the practice
of right relationship with others around us. A Grand trine in Fire with Eris
and Mars emphasizes growth and process over sitting back and waiting, and perhaps
also indicates a propensity for over-exuberance at times during this mid-month
period.
December 21st Winter Solstice
The entrance of the Sun into Capricorn is always an important time, but this
year even more so, since the ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, is square to Pluto in
the sky. The Sun joins Pluto in Capricorn within a few degrees and the heat of
personal transformation is turned up another notch. The structure of our lives
is encouraged to shift, and perhaps not very gently either.
December 24th First Quarter Moon
The Sun exactly conjuncts Pluto in this powerful configuration. Mars is also
retrograde in Leo, where it will remain for months, and Mercury is about to station.
These retrogrades will make things both slower and more reflective, and the emphasis
on Pluto means that there will be a strong impulse for transformation also. We
are stewing in our own juices at this time, turning on the spit until we come
out just right.
December 26th Mercury SR
This time Mercury stations retrograde exactly conjunct the nodal axis, which
is powerful in and of itself, and also in aspect to both Mars and Eris. There
could be a reactive stance taken by folks at this time, and also the determination
to make it happen in whatever way necessary. Since both Mercury and Mars are
retrograde however, it would be well to hold your horses and await events rather
than trying to push the river. Mercury straightens out on January 15th, and then
finally leaves its retrograde shadow late on February 3rd. Up until that time
there are better indications for reflection and introspection than for direct
action.
December 31st Full Moon
This important eclipse is accompanied by another on January 15th, making this
turning of the year a special time. Given the retrogrades of Mercury and Mars
it is an introspective one as well. Four planets plus the North Node in Capricorn
make it a practical and serious period when we must face ourselves deeply, and
when relationship with each other matters more than ever.
